Coronavirus: Daily updates on the situation in the Europe

Lorry drivers were exempt from coronavirus-test requirements in Europe for months. Please be informed that, all road hauler driving through Europe should present a Template of Certificate for International Transport Workers recommended by the EU can be such proof. Here, you will find the most important updates regarding the Covid 19 situation. 

FRANCE 

COVID – 19 update: From Saturday 3 April, restrictive measures already in force in some parts of France are extended to the whole of country.From 7PM to 6AM, a curfew is in force in France and an additional certificate for citizens need to go further than 10 km. 

Any road haulier who arrives on national territory must present a European certificate for workers in the international transport sector.

For road hauler from a certain number of countries, additional documents are required.

The transport companies coming from Ireland by sea directly in France must present before boarding, and to the border control authorities:

  • The result of a virological screening test enabling the detection of SARS-CoV-2 (antigenic test) or an “RT-PCR-COVID” virological screening test conducted less than 72 hours before departure which is negative for infection by Covid-19.
  • A European certificate for workers in the international transport sector.
  • A sworn statement confirming that he/she: 
  1. has no symptoms of COVID-19 infection;
  2. has no knowledge of having been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 during the 14 days prior to travel;
  3. agrees to take a virological screening test for SARS-CoV-2 upon arrival in the national territory;

Belgium

Covid -19 update: In Brussels, there is a nightly curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., with exceptions for “essential trips” for urgent medical reasons and professional commutes. In Flanders and Wallonia, the curfew is set from midnight to 5 a.m. 

Lorry drivers are exempt from carrying a negative Corona test and mandatory quarantine.

Drivers must have a negative PCR test if they are travelling from a red zone to Belgium.

Germany

Covid – 19 updates: Germany announced an intensified coronavirus Easter lockdown going into Easter, extended until April 18. 

Drivers arriving from the Czech Republic and Slovakia

If a driver stays in Germany for more than 72 hours, they are subject to the virus test requirements. In addition, a declaration of entry must also be completed prior to entry.

However, this measure does not apply if the stay in a high-risk country is shorter than 24 hours or the driver stays in Germany for less than 24 hours.

Drivers arriving from Tyrol

Drivers don’t need a test; however, border controls will continue to be maintained.

Drivers arriving from France

Drivers entering Germany from France for less than 72 hours do not have to provide a negative test result.

Other requirements:

Lorry drivers are no exempt from the requirement to register their entry to Germany online.

ITALY

COVID-19 update: Italy imposes the Strict lockdown for Easter. 

Testing obligations while entering Italy after spending 12 hours in Austria is still valid. 

The obligation for testing while entering Italy having spent more than 12 hours in Austria, is valid until 6 April 2021.

Reminder of the obligations: 

Professional drivers entering or passing through Italy and who have spent more than 12 hours in Austria in the 14 days prior to arrival in Italy must present, in case of control, a result of Negative test (PCR or antigen) less than 7 days old. The certification must be presented to the authorities in case of control.

Czech Republic

Covid -19 update : Professional drivers in transit who travel to Germany through the Czech Republic (including German transit and destination traffic) must present a negative antigen or PCR test before entering the Czech Republic.

Where can tests be carried out?

Tests should be carried out before crossing the Czech border and drivers must have a certificate about the negative test results.

Drivers don’t need to register online before entering the country if they can prove they are carrying out goods transportation. The Template of Certificate for International Transport Workers recommended by the EU can be such proof.
