Crossing the borders faster by using “Green lanes”

The European Commission has approved the implementation of Green Lanes to insure on-time availability of essential goods and services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

What is a “Green Lane”?

EU member states are requested to point out all relevant border-crossings on the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) as “Green-Lane” borders crossings.

The Green Lane border crossings must be open to all freight vehicles, whatever goods they are carrying.

Crossing the border, including any checks and health screening, must not take more than 15 minutes.

Internationally recognized certificates of professional competence should be considered enough to prove that a worker is active in international transport. In the absence of such a certificate, a letter signed by the employer should be accepted.
