COVID-19 : Latest updates for UK and France

From UK to France :

As of 00.01 Monday 22nd February COVID testing requirements for hauliers travelling from Europe to the UK via France are changing. The testing requirement remains in place, however, there are two important changes to note:

  • Drivers on a return trip from the EU who spend less than 48 hours in the UK will not require proof of a negative COVID test to cross the border
  • Drivers from the Republic of Ireland using the land bridge can also now rely on a test taken in Ireland, as long as it is administered within 72 hours of departure from a UK port

To enable them to make use of the first exemption, cross-Channel operators will be ensuring hauliers are provided with evidence of the time of their journey to the UK. The precise arrangements will vary between operators and drivers should contact their operator direct if they require more details.

For UK hauliers or those spending more than 48 hours in the UK, the testing requirements are unchanged.

From France to UK :

  • All drivers and their passengers must complete the passenger locator form before traveling.
  • Drivers of heavy goods vehicles/ vans and their passengers (who must also prove they’re freight drivers) are exempt from providing a negative test result.
