DECLARATIONS
As an international carrier, managing ENS GB is a critical daily challenge for your operations. Our innovative solution makes this regulatory obligation a smooth and secure process, allowing you to concentrate on your essential core business.
ENS FOR GB
Mandatory electronic safety & security declaration for goods entering gb from eu/rest of world, required from jan 31, 2025.
WHAT PROBLEM IT SOLVES?
Ensures compliance with GB safety & security regulations, that became relevant after Brexit. Enables British control over goods entering the country and assess the risks of all goods imported in the country.
WHY ENS IS IMPORTANT?
The ENS GB is a mandatory legal requirement for all goods entering the European Union. This pre-declaration, an integral part of the S&S (Safety & Security) system for the UK, must be submitted within strict deadlines before goods arrive into the UK.
HOW DOES THE ENTRY SUMMARY DECLARATION WORKS?
First step
First step is to choose your ports of departure and arrival. Point of Entry to United Kingdom is always very important, so depending on your operation we can enable any route that is used by you to deliver goods to UK.
Second step
When that is established, we ask for any customs documents to be attached – preferably CDS/Import, but we will accept any other custom document such as Carnet ATA, TAD, EX1 etc. Our office staff and our AI system have the expertise necessary to extract all vital information from the paperwork provided.
Third step
Then our system will ask for list of transiting countries, registration number of the vehicle and, if provided, a seal number. Putting the application through our system takes just under a minute, and team takes additional 5 minutes to use the details provided to create an ENS declaration.

ENS FAQ: Entry Summary Declaration for UK
What is an ENS and why is it required?
The ENS (Entry Summary Declaration) is a safety and security document required for goods entering the EU or UK. It allows customs authorities to perform risk assessments before arrival and ensures compliance with border regulations.
Who must submit an Entry Summary Declaration?
The carrier or freight operator is responsible for submitting the Entry Summary Declaration. It can also be submitted by an authorized representative such as Move Expert on behalf of the transport company.
When should the ENS be submitted?
The Entry Summary Declaration must be lodged before the goods arrive at the EU or UK border. For road and ferry freight, submission must be completed before the vehicle reaches the port of entry.
What information is required for an ENS?
An Entry Summary Declaration includes:
- EORI numbers of sender and receiver
- Consignor and consignee details
- Accurate description of goods and HS codes
- Transport and vehicle details
Submitting incomplete or inaccurate data can result in delays or rejection at the border.
What happens if the ENS is missing or rejected?
If an Entry Summary Declaration is not submitted or rejected, the goods may be blocked at the border, inspected, or refused entry. This can cause delays, additional costs, and penalties.
Is Entry Summary Declaration the same as ICS2?
No. ENS is specific to the entry point of the EU or UK, while ICS2 is the EU-wide Import Control System. Both are safety and security declarations, but they are submitted in separate systems and have different rules.
Can Move Expert help with Entry Summary Declaration?
Yes. Move Expert can submit your ENS quickly and accurately, ensuring compliance with EU and UK rules, avoiding border delays, and managing related services like ferry booking, GMR, ICS2, ELO, and HGV Tax.
